Patterson Reeves & Partners specialise in the civil and structural engineering design of electrical substations and associated transmission infrastructure across the UK.

Since 2000, PRP have focused heavily on the design of substations, delivering civil, structural, architectural and M&E Building Services design for projects ranging from GIS substations and converter stations to synchronous condenser facilities and major upgrades to existing National Grid and SSE infrastructure.

Substation Design

Our work includes the complete civil and structural design of new substations, including GIS buildings, transformer and shunt reactor bunds, fire walls, roads, drainage, fencing, cable troughs and associated infrastructure.

PRP have undertaken the design of numerous substations across the UK and have extensive experience working to National Grid and Scottish and Southern Electricity specifications and technical procedures.

Transmission Infrastructure

Beyond the main substation compounds, PRP provide engineering input for the wider infrastructure that supports transmission projects, including access roads, drainage, flood protection, retaining walls, hardstanding and site development works.

We also act as Principal Designer Rep under CDM Regulations and can act as Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) on National Grid projects.
